Designing a platform for a Hong Kong Institution

25 March 2015

When Para Site art gallery outgrew its space, they asked Marc & Chantal to design a new and much larger venue in North Point.

The gallery acquired 3,000 square feet on the 24th floor, where we designed a minimal space that forms a blank slate to accept artists’ visions. In order to provide a versatile platform for Para Site and artists to fill with their vision and creativity, we devised an approach that would allow flexibility for large scale shows and minimise any visual distraction to the art displays.

The completion of this renovation project continues our 20-plus years of contribution to the art and cultural scene in Hong Kong. We have worked with Para Site, the pre-eminent independent art gallery in Hong Kong, since 1996. We believe in the importance of homegrown perspectives alongside the global ambitions seen at Art Basel and other international institutions in Hong Kong.
