“Hong Kong’s Central Market has a long standing history: built in 1842, it was Hong Kong’s first ever wet market. The iconic Bauhaus building that we know today is the fourth generation Central Market, which was constructed in 1941. ”

With such an iconic history, we’re very proud to have contributed to the branding and wayfinding of its latest opening. Our visual identity was inspired by similarities between the architectural characteristics of the building and the Chinese calligraphy grid. The traditional wet markets of Hong Kong, from their colourful wrapping papers and fun typography, also influenced our logo and colour scheme, which subsequently informed the pictograms in our wayfinding system.

Central Market is now open to the public, where you can find our branding and signage, along with a myriad of shops to explore.
